Coliseum in Rome Italy
It seemed to take forever to fly over the pond and start to see Europe. My wife Cheryl and daughter Josie went to Italy prior and fell in love with it. So last year we went to several places and one of them was Rome. Up until that point I was convinced that New York was the coolest city on earth. Then I saw Rome. Literally every where you look, there is a postcard perfect photo just waiting to be taken. This is of the Coliseum as we were leaving the ruins. I turned to take one last look and saw the depth of this image with the pillars from a fallen building standing next to it. I would say it is one of my favorite photos from that day.
Lowry Bridge, North East Minneapolis
The Lowry Bridge is located in N.E. Minneapolis. There is a schedule online letting the public know when the colors change for special events. This was taken by the edge of the river one evening a few weeks ago. Its one of my favorite things to do. Sit outside by the river and watch the lighting change as the sun sets. Its so peaceful and you really have a chance to just clear your mind and be in the moment. This was an extended exposure to add the ripple effect of the moving water and adding to the light from the bridge bouncing off the water.
These are my noisy neighbors from across the street. I could sit and watch them for hours. They are very curious yet scared if you approach them. I was sitting on a berm across the street and took this with a zoom lens. I love how they are all dirty and look worn out from being in the mud all day. They will sit and stare you down for hours. Every time I watch them the Suburbs song Cows is playing in my head.
Railroad Bridge Downtown St. Paul
Its not that I am obsessed with bridges, but they are very interesting to me because of all the detail. This railroad bridge is located in downtown St. Paul. I was out shooting the city one day. I had probably driven by this hundreds of times. But this day I finally took notice of it. There is just something unique about it.
For those of you that don't know. This is Robin Zander of Cheap Trick. In my opinion, the greatest rock singer in one of the greatest American rock bands of all time. As many are starting to retire, Robin seems to be getting better at what he does as he gets older. If you are a rock fan and not familiar with this band, you owe it to yourself to check them out. This was taken at Treasure Island Casino on New Years Eve. A great place in Minnesota to see live shows.
