Minnesota State Fair
It's been a hard year for everyone with all of the things that are happening in the world. This will be the 1st year in my lifetime that I can remember that I will not be attending the Great Minnesota Get Together. There is so much beauty there and opportunities to take photos. My favorite thing to do is simply people watch. So many great memories I will really miss it this year.
This was taken a few years ago on a trip to Chicago. I am always amazed by the creativity of the street performers in the larger cities. The amount of work and dedication is really incredible. Unlike in Vegas where some on Freemont Street put on a thong and try to extort money out of tourists.
Bridge of Locks
Its not the correct name for it, the actual bridge is the Makartsteg Bridge. The locks are to symbolize lovers devotion to one another. It is a pedestrian bridge that crosses the Salzach river at the base of the Salzburg Castle in Salzburg, Austria. This is just one very small section of all of the locks that line this bridge.
This was a very sobering day when we visited the Dachau Memorial in Dachau, Germany. It was the first Nazi labor camp during WWII. It was chosen by Heinrich Himmler. As head of the SS, Chief of the German Police and later the Minister of the Interior, one of the most powerful men in the Third Reich. He grew up in Munich and was chief of police there. It is a short train ride away and knew of an abandoned industrial area which they turned into the camp. Most of the prisoners here with political opponents of Hitler and others sent to work in the labor camps for their "crimes". The row of trees are the original from the way and divided the camp in half. There were rows of houses along each side that are now gone. Prisoners would gather here daily. I can't express in words how hard it was to visit this place. It was a harsh reminder of the past and something I encourage you to visit
This is one of the singers from a band called the Butcher Babies. You never know what is going to happen at these festivals. Many of the performers will jump into the crowd and security usually has no idea what to do. You can see it on their faces in this shot. Oh and my buddy Brett looking at the photos he has taken and missing all the action, lol.
