Edina, MN

Edina, Minnesota Real Estate

Edina is divided and defined by several key highways in the Minneapolis-St. Paul area. As far west as Highway 169 East Hwy. 100 and cross toner Highway 62 as far south as 494. It is long been regarded the jewel of the city. Because of its location and proximity to shopping but also the quality of the homes and the proximity to downtown Minneapolis.

Some of the largest employers in the city include Regis Corporation, London food holdings, Dairy Queen international and Fairview Southdale Hospital. Your less than 10 minutes to the mall of America as well as the Minneapolis-St. Paul airport.

Edina has some of the nicest schools in the metro area and include six elementary schools, Concorde, Cornelia, countryside, Creek Valley, Highlands and Normandale Elementary. There are two middle schools self view middle school and Valley view middle school. There is one high school, Edina.

Most of the homes were built in the 50s and 60s but there is been a trend over the last 5 to 10 years of buyers coming in and tearing the homes down and rebuilding brand-new homes. Because this area is so desirable land goes at a premium. You will typically pay 10 to 15% more for 10 to 15% less square footage than similar suburbs around Edina. You can find single-family homes, townhomes as well as condominiums. Average prices start in the upper $100,000s to several million-dollar homes.

My experience as a real estate agent selling homes in Edina, has taught me a couple of valuable things. First that people still covet this suburb as a premier place to live in the Minneapolis-St. Paul area. Second that home buyers move here for the school district and for the type of lifestyle Edina offers. The corner of 50th St. in France Avenue is the center of everything Edina. This is a very big draw for a lot of people. Plus you're close to the lakes. The convenience factor to everything that Minneapolis and St. Paul has to offer is off the charts in this location. Home prices are above average so expect to pay 20% more than a suburb to the west, St. Louis Park. You do pay a premium for living in Edina but many people feel it's well worth the cost.
