St. Louis Park is located just west of Minneapolis in is an inner ring suburb in the Minneapolis-St. Paul metro area. It's located in Hennepin County and has an average population of around 45,000 residents. The city is 10.86 mi.² and a truly wonderful place to live.
St. Louis Park has seen quite a revitalization the last 10 years with the upgrades of 394, Highway 100 as well as Highway 7 and Minnetonka Boulevard. Many homebuyers like St. Louis Park because they area less than 10 minutes to downtown Minneapolis, 20 minutes to the mall of America or the Minneapolis-St. Paul airport plus you have so many great ways of communication to commute throughout the city.
With this resurgence came a lot of new retail a development including the West End shopping center which is at the corner of Highway 100 and 394. This hosts a myriad of shops restaurants, movie theater which is adjacent to Home Depot and Cosco. 10 minutes west near at Ridgedale Mall which is one of the larger malls in the Minneapolis area.
Most of the homes were built in the 1950s and 60s so the only new construction is similar to some of the surrounding suburbs where people are purchasing the land, tearing the homes down and building new. Most of what you see is completely renovated single-family homes. Mostly 1 1/2 stories as well as ramblers. You can find homes in all price ranges including townhomes and even if you condominiums. There are some duplexes available in St. Louis Park but they sell very quickly.
I sell a lot of homes in St. Louis Park because I know it so well and love the city. I grew up in St. Louis Park and went to Hopkins high school so the whole Western suburban area I spent years there. It's had a lot of changes with retail but the one thing that hasn't changed are the homes. The interesting thing about St. Louis Park though, is there is a huge difference between the homes on the west side of Highway 100 versus the homes on the east side of Highway 100. As you get closer to Lake Calhoun and to Edina, prices start to go up. Literally, the homes aren't any different but those locations will bring a premium. There are a lot of wonderful little neighborhoods inside of St. Louis Park that many don't even know about like the Kilmer Pond neighborhood. That's located on the corner of 394 and 169. It's made up of homes built in the 1950s. Ramblers, 1 1/2 stories and two-story homes that you can pick up for $175,000-$225,000. You're only 10 minutes from downtown Minneapolis and their great, quiet, safe neighborhoods
