Savage, Minnesota Real Estate
The city of Savage is located in Scott County in the southwest corner of the Minneapolis-St. Paul metro area. It's commonly referred to one of the cities that is located south of the river, meaning south of the Minnesota River. It sits between Burnsville and Prior Lake. Savage is expanded a lot over the last decade as Burnsville filled up and it merged with Prior Lake for a school district.
The total area of Savage is 16.45 mi.² with an average population of a little over 30,000 residents. Highway 13, County Road 42 as well as 169 are the main thoroughfares through Savage for commuting. There is still plenty of new construction of single-family homes as well as townhomes in Savage. Homes come in all shapes and sizes along with price ranges. There's something for everyone when it comes to purchasing a home.
Some of the wonderful things that you can access quickly when living in Savage are, Valleyfair amusement park, Mystic Lake Casino, the Renaissance Festival, Canterbury race track and card club as well as Prior Lake.
Savage is a very interesting area because it's a smaller community that seems to get overlooked. It sandwiched right between Burnsville and Prior Lake. Many people aren't even aware of where it is. I like Savage because unlike Burnsville it has some larger homes with newer construction. Not that there isn't in Burnsville but it seems like Savage has more choices. The one thing that's a negative for many of my clients that have looked in Savage is because of its location you're not close to 35W or Highway 169. You're right in the middle so you have to take County Road 42 or County Road 13 E. and West to get to one of them. This can slow some people down in their commute and that has been a big issue for some of my buyers.
