Rosemount is a city located on the south eastern side of the Minneapolis-St. Paul metro area in Dakota County. It's a second ring suburb just to the east of Apple Valley. Rosemount was incorporated in 1972 but seem to grow a lot in the 1980s and 1990s. In nearly 2000s you saw a huge boom in residential construction. The total land area is 35.21 mi.². The town has a very rich Irish heritage and the residents are very proud of their schools and community.
Rosemount has two elementary schools, Shannon Park elementary school and Rosemount elementary school. There is one middle school which is the Rosemount middle school and all students go to Rosemount high school. There is also a St. Joseph Catholic school grades K-8.
The reason a lot of home buyers land in Rosemount is due to the variety of homes for sale. Not only can you find single-family homes in a small downtown feel. You can also find homes in large neighborhoods of all shapes and sizes. However if you're looking for a horse property T, hobby farm or acreage property, you have plenty to pick from and Rosemount.
The city also has plenty of retail shopping and restaurants. You are less than 10 minutes from the heart of Apple Valley on Cedar Avenue and County Road 42 which also hosts a large amount of retail. About a 15 minute drive to the mall of America and the Minneapolis-St. Paul airport. Plus County Road 52 go straight up into downtown St. Paul so many homeowners commute from Rosemount.
My clients that have purchased homes in Rosemount, seem to really love it there. Of all the cities in the metro area they seem to have more pride in their schools than any other I've seen. So the school district is a big draw for my clients but the other piece is all of the variety and homes. They are still building new construction so that's very appealing to a lot of home buyers. They do have existing homes in established neighborhoods that you can pick up at a very reasonable price. The one downside that I've heard from clients when considering it is their first thought is that it's a little too far out if they're commuting into the city. Now with County Road 52 being upgraded it's a quick commute to downtown St. Paul. My clients seem to of been one over by the community itself and the commute no longer seems to be an issue. I would say as far as types of homes and pricing it's very similar to Farmington, which is farther south.
