Minneapolis (South), Minnesota Real Estate
Minneapolis is on the west side of the river and St. Paul is on the east side of the Mississippi river. Together they create the 16th largest metropolitan area in the United States with well over 3 1/2 million residents. Minneapolis is a wonderful city to live in within abundantly rich water supply including 13 lakes, wetlands, the Mississippi River, creeks as well as waterfalls. The total square footage is 58.4 mi.² with 3.5 mi.² of water. Because the city is so large these searches are divided up into three sections. North Minneapolis, Northeast Minneapolis and the South portion of Minneapolis from downtown on.
This map search is a much broader search than Minneapolis North and Northeast Minneapolis. The reason it set up this way is similarity in property and the way home buyers are searching. This section of Minneapolis runs from target field which is downtown Minneapolis and includes the warehouse district and the North Loop all the way south to Highway 62 also known as crosstown. From the west side of Lake of the Isles all the way east past Highway 55 that cuts up through the Longfellow neighborhood. This also includes Armitage, Powderhorn Park, the Phillips neighborhood, Northrup, Hiawatha, Nokomis, Linden Hills, Kings Field, Calhoun Isles, Kenwood, Bryn Mawr and Kenny just to name a few.
The self Minneapolis home search includes Lake of the Isles, Lake Calhoun, Lake area as well as Lake Nokomis. All of the areas are vastly different but have one thing in common. They're all very neighborhood centric. The walk-ability score is fantastic with all of these neighborhoods because there are so many small restaurants coffee shops and other retail spaces. No matter whether you'd like to live on Minnehaha Creek or by Lake Harriet, all of the homes are represented here.
As a real estate agent selling homes in South Minneapolis, this one is the hardest for me to dissect I area. I can tell you it's the most like New York in the respect that there are specific neighborhoods that you can tell are communities. The two consistently high this neighborhoods in South Minneapolis are Linden Hills and Tangle Town. However, all areas of South Minneapolis are sought after. I've seen so much growth over the last five years in coffee shops and small little restaurants that the walk-ability like I said is off the charts. Many people who've lived in the suburbs are moving back to the city because they miss being able to just walk to the local coffee shop. Plus the lakes themselves are such a huge draw that people just want to be near it. All of the neighborhoods are unique in their own way but they also hold one thing in common. Beautiful classic built homes in nice safe areas.
