Minneapolis (North), Minnesota Real Estate
Minneapolis is on the west side of the river and St. Paul is on the east side of the Mississippi river. Together they create the 16th largest metropolitan area in the United States with well over 3 1/2 million residents. Minneapolis is a wonderful city to live in within abundantly rich water supply including 13 lakes, wetlands, the Mississippi River, creeks as well as waterfalls. The total square footage is 58.4 mi.² with 3.5 mi.² of water. Because the city is so large these searches are divided up into three sections. North Minneapolis, Northeast Minneapolis and the South portion of Minneapolis from downtown on.
The North Minneapolis neighborhoods included in this search areCleveland, McKinley, Jordan, Harrison, Humboldt and Camden just to name a few. North Minneapolis is considered to be from Broadway off of County Road 94 N. to the city of Robbinsdale near Dowling Avenue and from East to West Highway 100 to Interstate 94.
North Minneapolis is seen a huge resurgence over the last several years. It was involved in a Ponzi scheme type investment a number of years ago that really hurt the areas of value. That has now shifted and people have been rebuilding with property values going up. It's one of the only areas in Minneapolis where you can find homes under $100,000. A lot of home investors love this area because they can purchase the homes at a very affordable price, do the home improvements and charge a reasonable amount of rent.
Most of the homes I have sold in North Minneapolis have been to investors. It just seems to be a different group of buyers for this area of Minneapolis. Like I mentioned above the homes are so affordable because of the upturn now in the revitalization, an investor can go in and purchase a single-family home, do the renovation and still rented out for a reasonable amount of money. There are some residents who are specifically looking in North Minneapolis to live there but the bulk over the last several years that I've seen have been investors. So if you're looking to start owning real estate this may be a really good spot to start.
