Golden Valley is a second-tier ring suburb located just north of St. Louis Park and northwest of downtown Minneapolis. You can commute to downtown within 10 minutes. Highway 55 which runs east and west is the quickest route. The city was incorporated and founded in the same year of 1886. The city is 10.55 mi.² and has an estimated population of 21,000+ residents. Located in the County of Hennepin, Golden Valley is one of the oldest communities in the Minneapolis-St. Paul area.
Most of the housing was built in the 50s and 60s. There's a variety of homes including Lakeshore as well as single-family homes townhomes and new were built condominiums including senior living. Along with the convenience to downtown Minneapolis, many of the residents enjoy the quaint atmosphere and the smaller shops located in Golden Valley. It's home to,two of the largest corporations, General Mills and Pentair.
The city is divided up into two different school districts, the Robbinsdale school district and the Hopkins school district depending on location. Both have open enrollment. The Breck private school is located in Golden Valley as is the Rudy Perpich Center for arts education. Many people looking for homes in the Golden Valley area also consider Robbinsdale, St. Louis Park New Hope and Crystal.
Selling homes is a real estate agent in Golden Valley doesn't come up as much because the community is smaller. Most of my clients that are purchased in Golden Valley start their search in Plymouth and move a little bit closer in. It's different than Newhope or Crystal even though they're very similar suburbs nearby. I found that Golden Valley has a wider variety of homes and price ranges then some of the other suburbs around it. There's also a real uniqueness to Golden Valley that I can't quite explain. There's a lot of construction that's taken place that were custom-built homes over the years. I'm always surprised when showing homes in Golden Valley at the difference in styles. I like Golden Valley because the prices are reasonable as well so you can find nice starter homes as well is the more unique higher-priced homes. Plus the locations fantastic. You just jump on Highway 55 in your downtown Minneapolis inside of five minutes.
