Eagan is south of St. Paul and lies on the south bank of the Minnesota River. It's wedged between Cedar Avenue or better known as Highway 77 and Interstate 35E. as of the 2010 census Eagan was ranked the 11th largest city in Minnesota with over 64,000 people.
Eagan is considered a very desirable city because it's viewed as a transitional suburb. Many people move in and out of Eagan from out-of-state due to the large companies located there. Plus it's very close to the airport as well as the mall of America. You are minutes away from both of those and it's a very easy commute into the city.
Eagan is home to some very large employers including Thomson Reuters, deluxe checks, Ecolab and Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Minnesota to name a few.
Eagan's colleges and universities include Rasmussen College and Argosey. There are a total of four high schools that serve the community of Eagan they are Burnsville high school District 191, Eagan high school District 196, Eastview high school district 196 and Henry Sibley District 197. There are five middle schools, Blackhawk, Dakota Hills, falcon Ridge, friendly Hills and Metcalf. Eagan also has one of the largest amounts of elementary schools of all of the cities, they are Deerwood, glacier Hills, Northview, Oak Ridge, pilot knob, Pinewood, Rahn, red pine, Rosemount, Sioux Trail, Thomas Lake, William Byrne and Woodland.
A lot of the homes in Eagan were built from the 60s on. It saw its largest growth in the 1980s and 90s. There are homes of all shapes, sizes, styles and price ranges. The beginning price point is around $125,000 all the way up to 1 million+ dollars.
Of all of the suburbs that I sell homes in, Eagan has to be one of the most popular. This is been consistent throughout my 14 year career. I think a big part of it is due to the fact that so many people buying homes like the location. They like being close to the airport and to the Metro area. When you dig deeper into Eagan, you will find a variety of different neighborhoods. All of them seem to have a real sense of community and my clients rave about the school district. I still consider it a south of the river suburb. Typically home buyers that are looking in Eagan are also searching in Apple Valley and Burnsville.
