Well And Septic Inspections, What You Should Know

If you’re considering purchasing a home on acreage, Lake or any other large parcel of land that’s not in the city, there’s a very good chance you will need an inspection for a well and or a septic system. We discuss the things that you should know about both before you enter into a purchase agreement.

Many people that have never had either of these, seem to have a fear of them. Mostly because they’ve heard rumors that are simply not true. In other cases, they’ve also made assumptions about the systems. I’m here to tell you that both of them, are wonderful options and if they’re taking care of properly, you would never know that you don’t have the city sewer and water.

Regarding a well, you want to make sure that you have the water tested to make sure that it is free of any pesticides or pollutants. Regarding septic, you want to make sure that the system is functioning properly be at a drain tile system or a mound system.

The other question is who pays for this inspection? Do you ask for the seller to provide you documentation or do you take on the expense yourself during your inspection period? We cover all those questions and more in this week’s episode.
